PHLEBOTOMY PROGRAM Approved by the National Healthcare Association Tuition $ 1950.00
Phlebotomy is an essential diagnostic tool for managing patient care. Phlebotomists perform an
important and integral role in the healthcare field in both the In-patient and Out-patient
environments. Accuracy and competency are the key components to a successful career in
phlebotomy. This program is consistent with the school’s educational mission that focuses on
the provision and promotion of quality, career oriented programs, provided through classroom
presentation, hands-on laboratory experience and clinical practice.
This program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to successfully collect,
process and transport blood specimens. The program is conducted on a maximum of 4 days or
4 evenings per week for 13 weeks. Upon successful completion graduates are eligible to sit for
the NHA Exam, the cost of which is included in the tuition.
ADMISSION INFORMATION
Students will be considered for admission when their application file is complete. Students are
selected on a “first-qualified, first-admitted” basis.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED.
Application with $150.00 non-refundable application fee.
HOBET: Assessment of basic learning skills
A Criminal Records Check when admitted.
2 passport photos for ID badge and file.
Additional Requirements:
Students are required to purchase lab coats, books and course materials.
Obtain a Health Examination completed and signed by your physician with the required
immunizations.
EXTERNSHIP Cost: $250.00
At the completion of the program, qualified students have the option to apply for a 120 hour
externship in an outpatient site where they will perform the responsibilties of a Phlebotomy
technician. The clinical experience gained in externship involves working directly with patients
and performing invasive procedures ( venipuncture with routine and winged infusion set-up, as
well as, capillary collection), therefore,
cooperating lab facilities require the following information:
* proof of vaccination against tetanus, rubella, rubeola, varicella and Hepatitis B
* PPD (purified protein derivative)status for tuberculosis exposure
* Routine health examination within the past 12 months
* Urine drug screen
* Criminal Offense Record Investigation (CORI)
* Proof of Health Insurance
* Proof of Liability Insurance as specified in the affiliation agreement
